Featured Products Post: How to throw a Tropical Galantine’s Day

There’s no question about it… this winter has seen some seriously questionable weather! We’ve gone from negative 28 to plus 6 in a matter of 24 hours and it seems as though Mother Nature hasn’t quite made up her mind when it comes to how she wants our winter to pan out this year. Us on the other hand… well, WE’VE come to a decision! We have decided to try & celebrate warm, sunny weather all winter long & we’re doing that by throwing a Galantine’s Day Luau using some of February’s Featured Products!

Decorations

If you’re going to throw a luau in the winter, then you’re going to need some PRETTY convincing decorations to help convince your Galentine’s Day guests that they’ve just strolled into a tropical oasis! Unsurprisingly, we’re partial to incorporating produce into our party, décor scheme 1. Because it’s Eco-friendly, 2. Because you can EAT it & 3. Because it looks great plain and simple!

Now what produce typically comes to mind when you think tropics? For us… it’s pineapples & citrus fruits & both can be easily transformed into the most beautiful of table centrepieces for your Galentine’s Day Party!

Here’s what you’ll need to make a Pineapple & Citrus Centrepiece!

  • Ripe pineapple
  • Knife
  • Scissors
  • Plastic cup
  • Scooper or ice cream scoop
  • Fresh flowers (we used purple tulips and pink peonies, among others)
  • Mix of Citrus Fruits

Directions

  1. Slice the top, spiked portion of the pineapple off
  2. Cut a circular whole into the pineapple, be sure to leave a thick outer rim
  3. Using a scoop, carve out the inside of the pineapple
  4. Insert the plastic cup into this whole and fill it with water – this will act as your vase for the flowers
  5. Arrange your flowers inside the cup
  6. Voila! Set on table!
  7. Arrange your citrus fruits around, and lineally along the table! The goal is to make it look sporadic, yet organized!
  8. You’ve got yourself a Hawaiian centerpiece!
